Bjørg Nordli Mathisen was born a dark winternight in the north of Norway.
Growing up with majestic mountains, the wild ocean, and nordic lights dancing across the winter skies, she developed a strong intuition for nature and its wonders.
Collecting and recreating magic in nature became an early obsession and an endless source of inspiration.
After studying art, Bjørg lived across many corners of the world, pursuing her artistic career while embracing different cultures and diverse values.
Inspired by ancient myths and the imperfect beauty of nature, Bjorg created her first jewellery while living in India 2003. These pieces were launched at the Talisman gallery and Liberty in London the same year.

In 2004 the brand BJØRG was founded in Oslo, on a strong urge (eller desire?) to create the-not-yet-seen.Throughout the last two decades BJØRG has collaborated with famous artists like David Bowie, Rihanna, Lady Gaga and Bjarne Melgaard, and been showcased by high-end international fashion stores as well as art galleries like Astrup Faernley in Oslo, Fitzpatrick Gallery and the Museum of Modern Art in Paris and Gavin Brown in NYC.

BJØRG has since been recognised and celebrated around the world for original design, collectible style and imperfect sculptural craftsmanship.
BJØRG has received several awards for their design and innovative work and has been frequently celebrated among international art and fashion press.
