The Hand
I keep returning to the hand. The lines of a palm, its folds and small marks. An object resting there is never quite separate from the person holding it.
We shot this campaign in Paris in 2008. We’d found this white Chanel glove at a flea market that morning. A few hours later, it was holding the heart.

The hand became a recurring motif in rings and pendants. Later, we cast and sculpted hands at life size in plaster, bronze and transparent resin.

A hand is familiar until you separate it from the body, or change its scale.

The first versions of these two were made in 2009 .
In the ring, the hand that holds the stone is carried by another hand. I like this doubling.
The body wearing a small fragment of itself.
